Judging
The AFS 2005 Program Committee and the Education Section are pleased to announce that we will have about 500 students presenting research in contributed sessions and symposia at our upcoming meeting. Each year the AFS Education Section rewards excellence in our student presenters with the AFS/ Sea Grant Outstanding Student Presentation Awards, AFS Outstanding Student Poster Awards, Honorable Mentions for Best Paper and Best Poster.
Sessions and symposia needing judges for ORAL PRESENTATIONS are presented in the grid titled “STUDENT ORAL PRESENTATIONS”. Another grid will be used for posters.
Please identify sessions, symposia and time blocks that you want to commit to judging student presentations (time blocks = EM, early morning; LM, late morning: EA, early afternoon; and, LA, late afternoon)
Each session, symposia, and block of time, has a unique time block ID (TB_x). Some sessions, symposia, and time blocks have few student presenters, others several.
1) Identify sessions that you would like to commit to judging. Notice that judges are needed for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Select up to 12 sessions per day, with a maximum of three per time block (Ex., 3 in EM, 3 in LM, 3 in EA, & 3 in LA) Note the TB_x identifiers.
2) Rank your choices within each time block, from most desired to least (1 to 3, with 1= most desired), for each day

3) Email the day of the session, the Time Block, the unique TB_x identifier for the session, and your rankings for the day from most to least desired (within each day) to fmhollim@ncsu.edu . (See example from 2). Include the text AFS judging in the subject heading of the email.
4) An attempt will be made to place judges in sessions and times indicated as most desired. Only when sessions are filled will second or third choices be used. Confirmations will be sent to judges via email.
