Instructions for Nominations for a 2023 WDAFS Award
Individual Awards (excluding the Diversity & Inclusion Service Award):
To nominate an individual for one of the Division’s Individual Awards (see list of awards and descriptions here: Past Award Recipients – Western Division of the American Fisheries Society (wdafs.org) ), write a one-page summary of the contributions and accomplishments of the nominee noting specifically how they align with the award for which they are being nominated. In addition, please include how the individual fosters a diverse and inclusive culture in the fisheries community. There are no cash gifts associated with these awards. Award winners will receive a plaque.
Send your nominations to WDAFS Past President Dan Brauch at danbrauchafs@gmail.com no later than March 10, 2023. The WDAFS Awards Committee will select award winners and notify nominees of the outcome no later than April 1, 2023. Recipients will be acknowledged during the Division’s business meeting at the 2023 WDAFS Annual Meeting in Boise, Idaho, May 8-11, 2023 (exact date/time TBD). Their accomplishments will also be highlighted in the WDAFS newsletter (The Tributary).
Diversity & Inclusion Service Award:
To nominate an individual for the Diversity & Inclusion Service Award please refer to information specific to this award (https://wdafs.org/awards/information-deadlines-applications/diversity-and-inclusion-awards/).
Organization Awards (excluding the Riparian Challenge):
To nominate an organization for an Award of Special Recognition or a Conservation Achievement Award (see description here: Past Award Recipients – Western Division of the American Fisheries Society (wdafs.org)), write a one-page description explaining why the organization deserves the award for which they are being nominated. Send your nominations to WDAFS Past President Dan Brauch at danbrauchafs@gmail.com no later than March 10, 2023. The WDAFS Awards Committee will select award winners and notify nominees of the outcome no later than April 1, 2023. Organization Award – Riparian Challenge Award:
To nominate an organization for a Riparian Challenge Award, please read the instructions and download the nomination form, which are available here. Send your nominations to Amy Sacry, Chair of the WDAFS Riparian, Watersheds and Habitat Committee at asacry@geumconsulting.com no later than March 10, 2023.
Outstanding Large Chapter, Outstanding Small Chapter, and Outstanding Student Subunit Awards:
Use the Nomination/Application Form to nominate your Chapter or Subunit for an award. Please fill in all appropriate sections with descriptions of the activities of your chapter during the award evaluation period. Please be thorough but succinct in your responses. The length of the completed nomination form may not exceed 15 pages (not including these instructions). You are welcome to include links or direction to supporting documentation that the Awards Committee can find online but addenda and attachments are not accepted and will not be included in evaluations. Please do not reformat or alter this form or submit nominations in any other format.
